Dubai è una città magica, piena di cose fantastiche da vedere, che vi stupiranno in quanto a fastosità ed eccessi. L'impronta è quella di una città occidentale in fortissima espansione, ma le origini sono strettamente radicate alla tradizione araba, alla religione e ad un architettura dal fascino senza tempo. La città vecchia, Deira, vi introdurrà nel caos dei mercati di stoffe, oro e spezie, accompagnati dal navigare dei "Dhow" i classici velieri che dominano il fiume Creek trasportando tutt'oggi merci da e in tutto il mondo.
Non c'è un modo per vivere Dubai: ce ne sono molteplici. I mezzi pubblici sono tutti funzionali e la modernissima metropolitana automatica, guidata da un computer collega bene ogni principale punto della città.
Mille cose da fare, mille posti da vedere. Estesissimi parchi, delfinari, zoo, centri commerciali dalle dimensioni improponibili (il Dubai Mall conta una superficie di circa 1 milione di metri quadri), spiagge, strutture sportive, qualunque cosa. L'unico consiglio, visto l'incredibile numero di taxi che circolano per le strade è quello di spostarsi quasi esclusivamente con essi: le distanze da percorrere sono abbastanza rilevanti, ma le tariffe sono molto convenienti, anzi, direi accessibili come i mezzi pubblici. Oltre alle attrazioni più famose, quali il Burj-Kalifa (che con i suoi 828 metri è attualmente il grattacielo più alto del mondo), il celebre albero a sette stelle a forma di vela Burj-Al-Arab, vi consiglio una visita nella zona The Palm, classificata come ottava meraviglia del mondo, un arcipelago artificiale a forma di palma, seguito poi da uno a forma di mondo e da una nuova palma ancora in cantiere, tutti costruiti nel bel mezzo dell'oceano Indiano costituiscono senz'altro una delle opere ingegneristiche più incredibili che l'uomo abbia mai realizzato.

Dove alloggiare: Prendete un albergo su Avenida Liberdade, una delle vie principali di accesso al centro della città. E' ricca di alberghi di categoria medio-alta ad un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo ed è adiacente alla metropolitana e ben servita dai mezzi pubblici.

Dove mangiare: Di giorno, per non perdere troppo tempo, potete consumare delle specialità tipiche nei numerosi bar-pasticcerie che si trovano nella città e che espongono in vetrina prelibatezze sia dolci che salate. Spenderete pochissimo con la possibilità di assaggiare molteplici ricette della cucina portoghese.

Per la sera, potete concedervi una cena speciale a base di baccalà (in particolare le frittelle) o di carne, a seconda dei gusti.

da segnalare, la Cervejaria Trindade in Rua Nova da Trindade, 20 nel quartiere del Chiado, tra la Baixa e il Bairro alto. Essa è ubicata fra le mura di un antico convento sin dal 1834. Il locale, caratteristico e accogliente, vi consente mentre cenate, di ammirare gli azulejos che decorano il suo interno. In media, si spendono 30 euro a testa, per un pasto completo, vini inclusi.

Casa do Alentejo, in Rua Porta Santo Antão 58, zona Rossio, atmosfera singolare e retrò che ospita un salone barocco e offre specialità portoghesi. Da provare, il maiale con patate, ceci e vongole, una vera delizia.

Dopo cena vi raccomando una rapida visita per degustare la celebre "ginjina sem rival" da Eduardinho, un gustoso liquore a base ci ciliegie al n. 7 della stessa via (Porta Santo Antão) .

Per lo Shopping: Lisbona è piena di bei negozi che offrono una grande varietà di prodotti fantasiosi. Fate un giro fra le curiosissime mercerie in zona Baixa, Rua da Conceçao. Il Bairro Alto è ricco di negozi vintage e di stilisti emergenti. Io ho scovato una piccola chicca per le fashion victim, con pezzi unici a prezzi bassissimi: si chiama Bazaar Chiado, a Calçada do Sacramento, 25, zona Chiado. Un altro indirizzo ricco di pezzi singolari e graziosissimi, lo trovate in zona Baixa, lungo Rua Augusta, alla vostra sinistra in direzione Praça do Commercio, un negozio a due piani con abiti vintage rivisitati, accessori particolari e rivenditore UGG e Hunter.

Sweetest recipe - Muffins con gocce di cioccolato bianco e marmellata di fragole

E' uno dei sapori più intensi che la mia memoria riesce a conservare inalterato, una ricetta unica assaggiata nella magica Dublino di qualche anno fa, in pieno inverno tra luci di Natale e atmosfera Irish, che vicino ad un tè è stata capace di riscaldare anima e corpo. E visto che il grande freddo si avvicina, perchè non prepararli da sè? Questa combinazione vi stupirà per la sua dolcezza e il suo sapore fruttato...Eccovi la ricetta e...A voi la sentenza!

Ingredienti

per circa 8 muffin

250 gr farina 00, 1/2 bustina di lievito vanigliato, 100 gr zucchero, un pizzico di sale

200 gr latte, 2 uova, una bustina di vanillina, 100 gr burro

200 g cioccolato bianco

In un pentolino far scaldare il latte unendo la vanillina. Far raffreddare.

In una ciotola riunire la farina e il lievito setacciati, lo zucchero e il pizzico di sale

In un'altra ciotola unire le uova, il latte profumato alla vaniglia, il burro fuso e amalgamare.

Nella ciotola con la farina versare tutti gli ingredienti liquidi e amalgamare fino ad ottenere un composto cremoso. Unire una parte del cioccolato (il resto vi servirà alla fine per la guarnizione) che avete precedentemente sminuzzato in piccoli pezzi, più o meno grandi come le classiche gocce di cioccolato e unirli all'impasto.

Disporre gli stampini sulla lastra del forno. In ciascun stampino versare qualche cucchiaio di composto, un cucchiaio colmo di confettura di fragole e altro composto.

Cuocere in forno già caldo a 180° per circa 20' o comunque fino a doratura.

Disporli su una griglia e far raffreddare.

Sciogliere il cioccolato bianco e decorare i muffins.

This is one of the most intense flavors that memory can preserve intact in my head, a unique recipe tasted in the magical Dublin a few years ago, in mid-winter Christmas lights and Irish atmosphere, near a tea that was been able to warm blood and body. And since the cold is coming, why we don't prepare it ourselves? This combination will amaze you with its sweetness and fruity flavor... Here's the recipe:

ingredients
for about 8 muffins

250 g flour 00, 1 / 2 vanilla baking powder, 100 grams sugar, a pinch of salt
200 g milk, 2 eggs, a packet of vanilla, 100 g butter
200 g white chocolate

In a saucepan heat the milk to joining the vanilla. Allow to cool.

In a bowl combine the sifted flour and baking powder, sugar and pinch of salt

In another bowl combine eggs, milk flavored with vanilla, melted butter and mix.

In the bowl with the flour, pour all liquid ingredients and mix until creamy. Combine one part of the chocolate (the rest will serve you at the end to the seal) that have previously choppedinto small pieces, more or less as large as the classic chocolate chips and add them to the dough.

Arrange the ramekins on the plate of oven. In each mold pour a few tablespoons of mixture, a spoonful of strawberry jam and another compound.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 20 'or until golden brown.
Place them on a wire rack and let cool.

Melt the white chocolate and decorate the muffins.

Non so se è successo anche a voi, ma è da un pò che mi capita di osservare come in questa stagione si sia distinto un elemento che predomina le scene dell'abbigliamento, del make-up, come anche dell'home decor;

un motivo dalle note estive, che rievoca i fondali marini e le loro meravigliose barriere coralline. La voglia di mare continua a manifestarsi attraverso il "Coral Trend" nei classici toni del rosso, rosa e celeste oltremare.

Gioielli , abiti, stoffe, cuscini, oggetti di design e arredamento, portano la firma di un imponente elemento della natura, regalatoci dal mare, capace di abbellire ogni cosa con grazia e colore. Io ho scelto uno dei miei colori preferiti, esattamente il turchese, per abbracciare questa tendenza. E voi, quale sceglierete?

Devo ammetterlo. Personalmente, mi è sempre capitato di guardare con occhio assai severo tutti coloro che si dedicavano ad affannose ricerche e grandi eccessi per l'organizzazione di un matrimonio. Spesso accade che esso sia un evento importante non solo per sè, ma forse ancor di più per gli ospiti, in particolare quelli più critici, pronti a carpire ogni piccolo difetto e a sindacare la non proprio perfetta riuscita di ciascun dettaglio. Mesi di ardui e incessanti preparativi, giornate cariche di stress e dubbi su cosa, come e chi scegliere, perché preferire un colore, un sapore o un fiore ad un'altro, e poi il terribile dilemma: sarà troppo o troppo poco? Se credete che ad un matrimonio discreto e circoscritto corrispondano minori impegni e stress, bè, vi sbagliate di grosso. Perché noi, per il nostro ricevimento, di "pochi ma buoni", abbiamo voluto (come ogni coppia che si rispetti) che tutto fosse perfetto. Speriamo di essere riusciti nel nostro intento, anche perché, come ha detto la cara signora Del Delitto (;D) , è un giorno per il quale si investe molto tempo e si lavora tanto, ma del quale è necessario godere ogni istante, dal momento che purtroppo, si risolve in poche, fugacissime ore.

Quel che ne rimane poi, altro non é che il languido e malinconico ricordo di una giornata di tensione, di costante monitoraggio, di saluti cerimoniosi e formali, di frettolosi spostamenti con un abito che non li consente affatto, talvolta con visi davvero poco familiari. E poi, tra tutto, si distingue l'unica certezza, la tenera visione di chi vi ama e vi attende all'altare per ritrovarvi per sempre e alleggerire il vostro cuore dal peso di tutto quello che vi circonda. In quel momento l'agitazione vi abbandonerà, perché insieme sarete forti e pronti ad affrontare qualunque cosa e perché questo é il vostro giorno e solo il vostro.

I must admit it. Personally, I always was very critical to who dedicated themselves to great excesses and frantic searches for the organization of their wedding. It often happens that the wedding date is an important event not only for himself, but perhaps even more for the guests, especially those most critical, ready to steal every little flaw and the not really complete success of each detail. Months of arduous and relentless preparation, days full of stress and doubts about what, how and whom to choose, why choose a color, a taste or a flower to another, and then the terrible dilemma: "it will be too much, or too little"?
If you believe that a wedding discreet and circumscribed corresponds to lower commitments and stress... You are mistaken. Because we, for our reception of "few but good", we wanted like everyone that everything was perfect. We hope to have succeeded, because, as Miss Del Delitto said, the wedding day is a day for which you invest so much time and work, that you must enjoy every moment, because unfortunately, it results in a few, fleeting hours.
What remains is that languorous and melancholic remember of a tension day, constant monitoring, ceremonious and formal greetings, hasty displacements with a dress that not permits them all, sometimes with faces really unfamiliar. And then, among all, stands the only certainty, the early vision of who loves you and welcomes you to the altar to find yourself forever and lighten your heart from the weight of all surrounds you. In that time the agitation will forsake you, because together you are strong and ready to face anything and because this is your day and only the yours.

ACQUA FOR LIFE

L'acqua è un bene che ci è stato regalato dalla natura e come tale è un diritto irrinunciabile. Ma purtroppo ci sono molte persone al mondo meno fortunate, che non possono beneficiarne liberamente.
Nasce a tale scopo l'importante progetto di Giorgio Armani in collaborazione con Green Cross International:
Acqua for Life.
Questa iniziativa benefica si propone di promuovere l'accesso all'acqua potabile per i bambini del Ghana;
a partire dal 1° Marzo 2011, con l'acquisto di un profumo Acqua di Giò e Acqua di Gioia, potrete garantire 100 litri d'acqua per le comunità ghanesi. 100 litri per ogni fragranza acquistata.
Potete seguire l'iniziativa anche su Facebook, utilizzando l'hashtag #acquaforlife.

Il 65% del corpo umano è composto d'acqua.

4/5 del nostro pianeta è coperto d'acqua.

L'obiettivo della sfida: fornire quest'anno un minimo di 40 milioni di litri di acqua potabile alle popolazioni bisognose.

Poiché sono i bambini i più colpiti dalle malattie legate all'acqua e il loro futuro è minacciato dallo scarso accesso all'acqua, essi saranno i principali beneficiari delle donazioni raccolte con l'iniziativa "Acqua For Life".

L'operazione avrà inizio in Ghana con il progetto "Smart Water For Green Schools": in questo paese dell'Africa Occidentale il 40% della popolazione rurale non ha accesso all'acqua potabile. Il denaro raccolto sarà utilizzato nel tempo per finanziare progetti simili in altri paesi.

THE PROJECT

Water is an essential element of life.

65% of the human body is made up of water.

4/5 of our planet is covered in water.

Only 3% of this is fresh water. Much of it is inaccessible.

When dirty or contaminated, water becomes a threat. Every day, 4,000 children die from water-borne diseases.
This is why Giorgio Armani is now working alongside the non-governmental organization Green Cross International to make a change and raise everyone’s awareness of this issue.

Acqua For Life’s objective is to provide several tens of millions of litres of drinking water to populations without any access to it. 900 million individuals are still deprived of safe, clean and healthy water for their daily essential needs. Water that is essential for drinking, eating, guaranteeing a minimum of hygiene and maintaining one’s health. The goal of this challenge: To offer this year a minimum of 40 million litres of drinking water to populations in need.

Because they are the most vulnerable to water-borne diseases and it is their future that is taken hostage by this uncertain water supply, children will be the primary beneficiaries of the donations collected by the “Acqua For Life” campaign.

The operation will initially begin in Ghana, supporting the Smart Water for Green Schools project: In this west African country some 40% of the rural population does not have access to drinking water.

The money raised will then be used, over time, to finance similar operations in other countries.

PENHALIGON'S

Ecco finalmente un altro essenziale elemento di eleganza legato alla cura persona e di fondamentale rilevanza per uno dei nostri sensi. Il Profumo. Elemento distintivo di personalità e fascino, come dimostra la fama stessa di celebri profumi inglesi, mi preme oggi parlarvi di un prodotto che ho conosciuto grazie al mio papà, che lo usava spessissimo e grazie al quale posso conservare inalterato nel tempo, il ricordo dell'odore che lo contraddisingueva.
Penhaligon's è un'antica casa di profumi inglese. Essa fu fondata nel 1860 da William Henry Penhaligon, un barbiere della Cornovaglia che trasferitosi a Londra,  divenne presto barbiere di Corte e profumiere personale della regina Vittoria.
Il primo negozio era situato in Jermyn Street, vicino Hammam Street.  Purtroppo gli edifici furono distrutti nel Blitz del 1941, solo nel 1975 fu aperto un nuovo negozio Penhaligon's  a Covent Garden dalla stilista Sheila Pickles,  con l'aiuto del nostro regista italiano Franco Zeffirelli.
Pickles ha tratto ispirazione dalle celebri formule di William Penhaligon, introducendo una serie di tradizionali profumi floreali per le donne, in particolare ricordiamo l'unico e distintivo Bluebell, che rimane ancora oggi un best-seller.

Penhaligon's is an English perfume house. It was founded in the late 1860s by William Henry Penhaligon, a Cornish barber who moved to London and who became Court Barber and Perfumer to Queen Victoria. The original shop was situated in Jermyn Street next to the street's Hammam. Both buildings however were destroyed in The Blitz in 1941. A new Penhaligon's shop was opened in 1975 in Covent Garden by the fashion designer Sheila Pickles, with the help of the Italian film director Franco Zeffirelli.
Pickles drew upon the formulas left by William Penhaligon himself, and also introduced a range of traditional floral scents for women, notably their unique and distinctive Bluebell, which is still a bestseller today.
