PENHALIGON'S

Ecco finalmente un altro essenziale elemento di eleganza legato alla cura persona e di fondamentale rilevanza per uno dei nostri sensi. Il Profumo. Elemento distintivo di personalità e fascino, come dimostra la fama stessa di celebri profumi inglesi, mi preme oggi parlarvi di un prodotto che ho conosciuto grazie al mio papà, che lo usava spessissimo e grazie al quale posso conservare inalterato nel tempo, il ricordo dell'odore che lo contraddisingueva.    
Penhaligon's è un'antica casa di profumi inglese. Essa fu fondata nel 1860 da William Henry Penhaligon, un barbiere della Cornovaglia che trasferitosi a Londra,  divenne presto barbiere di Corte e profumiere personale della regina Vittoria. 
Il primo negozio era situato in Jermyn Street, vicino Hammam Street.  Purtroppo gli edifici furono distrutti nel Blitz del 1941, solo nel 1975 fu aperto un nuovo negozio Penhaligon's  a Covent Garden dalla stilista Sheila Pickles,  con l'aiuto del nostro regista italiano Franco Zeffirelli. 
Pickles ha tratto ispirazione dalle celebri formule di William Penhaligon, introducendo una serie di tradizionali profumi floreali per le donne, in particolare ricordiamo l'unico e distintivo Bluebell, che rimane ancora oggi un best-seller.

 Penhaligon's is an English perfume house. It was founded in the late 1860s by William Henry Penhaligon, a Cornish barber who moved to London and who became Court Barber and Perfumer to Queen Victoria. The original shop was situated in Jermyn Street next to the street's Hammam. Both buildings however were destroyed in The Blitz in 1941. A new Penhaligon's shop was opened in 1975 in Covent Garden by the fashion designer Sheila Pickles, with the help of the Italian film director Franco Zeffirelli. 
Pickles drew upon the formulas left by William Penhaligon himself, and also introduced a range of traditional floral scents for women, notably their unique and distinctive Bluebell, which is still a bestseller today.
